Another podium finish and valuable championship points for Frikadelli Racing

24.10.2022

The Frikadelli Racing Team made it onto the podium for the fifth time this season. At the penultimate round of the Nürburgring Endurance Series, Klaus Abbelen, “Jules” and Felipe Laser finished second in the AM classification of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring (PETN) with the #111 Porsche 992 GT3 Cup. The team from Barweiler thus further increased their points cushion and now has a 20-point lead over fourth-placed in the championship table before the final season finale.

“Of course we can once again be satisfied with the result. The stints were all very good and we were able to fight for victory despite a less than ideal setup today. It's a shame that 16 seconds were missing in the end. If the race had lasted two laps longer, based on the times we would have been on and maybe over. Nevertheless, there were again important points for the championship. At the season finale in two weeks, we now have to defend our third place, as the two leading drivers can no longer be mathematically overtaken. We are really looking forward to it and hope that the weather will still play along at this point. Not that we still have to unpack the sled," says team manager Klaus Abbelen.

Already the qualifying was extremely promising for the Frikadelli Racing Team. On a drying track, Felipe Laser placed the #111 Porsche 992 GT3 Cup on second place on the grid in the AM category with a lap time of 9:17.496 minutes and was thus able to successfully leave all direct championship competitors behind. In the race, the trio of drivers continued their performance and fought a close duel for the day's victory until the end. At the end of the four-hour race, the #111 Porsche 992 GT3 Cup finished second in the AM category. Within the strong CUP2 class, it was enough for a good fifth place.

“I'm very happy with the result, even though we certainly could have won today. All in all, it was not an easy race with many yellow and code 60 phases, and the track was very dirty and slippery in places. However, we accepted the conditions and mastered them well together. At this point, many thanks again to our entire mechanic crew, who once again did an excellent job. Now we're all looking forward to the grand finale together," said Jules.
