Driver crew from Frikadelli Racing for the 24h anniversary edition is fixed

22.05.2022

This year, the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Of course, the Frikadelli Racing Team, which has helped shape the long-distance classic in the Eifel in the past, should not be missing. The team from Barweiler will use the new Porsche 992 GT3 Cup for this year's edition, with which Klaus Abbelen and "Jules" also compete in the Nürburgring Endurance Series.

"The anticipation for the 24-hour race is always very great, because it is regularly one of the absolute highlights on our racing calendar. We have already experienced many great moments here, such as third place overall in 2008 or our many top 10 results in the final classification. However, we also had to gain some bitter experiences, for example in 2019 when we were still in second place overall after a strong performance and were eliminated in the final phase. I'm curious to see what kind of story the race has in store this time," says team manager Klaus Abbelen, who will be in the cockpit himself.

As in the NLS, “Frikadelli” shares the wheel with the Brit “Jules” in the long-distance classic, for whom a very special experience awaits. "I've been an enthusiastic spectator at the 24-hour race since 2008. Now I'm going to start as a driver myself for the first time. So I'm really looking forward to the weekend and the fascinating atmosphere. It will be a unique experience. I really hope that we can achieve a good result. In any case, we are well prepared and will give everything,” said Jules.

The third driver is Porsche driver Ayhancan Güven. The 24-year-old Turk has competed successfully in the Porsche one-make cups in recent years. In 2021 he became runner-up in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and third overall in the Porsche Supercup. Before that, he secured title wins in the Porsche Carrera Cup France in 2018 and 2019.

Finally, the driver line-up of the #128 Porsche 992 GT3 Cup will be completed by Hendrik von Danwitz, who will celebrate his comeback in the Frikadelli Racing team. Most recently, von Danwitz was at the start for the team from Barweiler in the past NLS season and, together with "Jules", was able to collect a number of podium successes in the Pro-Am category of the Porsche Cayman GT4 classification. This is followed by his first race in the Frikadelli Racing Porsche 992 GT3 Cup.
