Frikadelli Racing is traveling to Barcelona with great ambitions for the 24h race

27.08.2019

After the successful guest appearance at the ADAC GT Masters at the Nürburgring, the Frikadelli Racing Team will take a closer look at another potential field of activity for the 2020 season from 29.08.2019-01.09.2019 with the 24h SERIES of Creventic. For this purpose, the crew from Barweiler sends a strong four-man squad to the race, with which one aims at the Circuit de Catalunya a place in the top 5 of the overall classification.

"The entire Frikadelli Racing Team is looking forward to the premiere at the 24 Hours of Barcelona, which has been proven to be one of the most important international 24h races. For us it is after the participation in the 24-hour race of Daytona a few years ago, the second big step in a long-distance race abroad. We have a strong driver crew here, so a good result can be possible for us”, team boss Klaus Abbelen looks ahead.

So will share the Porsche 911 GT3 R with the start number 31 Lance David Arnold, Felipe Fernandez Laser, Alex Mueller and Klaus Abbelen. While Abbelen has already been able to collect his first kilometers of racing in the ADAC GT Masters with the 991.2 Series Porsche acquired at the start of the season, the remaining three drivers will celebrate their first race in Barcelona on the new model.

"Lance, Felipe and Alex have brought many top results to our Frikadelli Racing Team in the past at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. They are not only fast on the road, but also have a lot of experience, which is especially important in a 24-hour race, "says Abbelen, who in turn knows the 4.655 km long course on the Mediterranean.

"I've already done a few motorcycle races at Circuit de Catalunya and have been there on the road often in the GT World Championship. The track is a lot of fun and very much in line with my driving style. Overall, I see ourselves very well positioned. Should we get through without incident, I think that for us a place in the top 5 of the overall classification is quite realistic. "

In total, a field of nearly 50 vehicles is expected for the 21st edition of the Hankook 24H Barcelona. It starts first on Thursday, 29.08.2019 and Friday, 30.08.2019 with several free practice sessions. The first time it gets really serious on Friday in the period from 17.45 - 18.30, when the qualifying is on the program. In addition, there will be another training session in the evening from 9:00 pm to 10:30 pm. The start clearance for the Hatz twice around the clock will be given on Saturday, 31.08.2019 at 12.00 clock.
