Frikadelli Racing makes guest appearance in the GT World Challenge Europe
22.07.2024
From July 26th to 28th, 2024, Frikadelli Racing will make a guest start in the GT World Challenge Europe at the Nürburgring with their Ferrari 296 GT3. For “Bella 2.0,” it will be the first appearance since this year’s 24-hour race. The entry will be carried out in cooperation with Rinaldi Racing.
“We’re really looking forward to the GT World Challenge weekend at the Nürburgring,” said team principal Klaus Abbelen. “It’s a series I personally follow with great interest, and I was even back in Spa-Francorchamps for this year’s 24-hour race as a guest. We've previously worked successfully with Michele Rinaldi’s team, which brings a wealth of experience in the GT World Challenge—like our 24-hour win at the Nürburgring in 2023. I believe we’re well positioned for the weekend to gain valuable experience.”
Driving duties for the Ferrari 296 GT3 will be shared by David Perel, Felipe Laser, and Klaus Abbelen. The race weekend kicks off on Friday from 17:45 to 18:45 with a practice session for Bronze drivers. On Saturday, free practice runs from 08:30 to 10:30, followed by pre-qualifying from 13:15 to 14:15. The highlight of the weekend is the three-hour endurance race on Sunday afternoon, starting at 15:00. Prior to that, a multi-part qualifying session from 08:45 to 09:45 will determine the starting grid.
This will mark Frikadelli Racing’s first appearance in the GT World Challenge Europe since the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps in 2020. Back then, the all-pro lineup of Jörg Bergmeister, Frédéric Makowiecki, and Dennis Olsen finished eighth overall with the Porsche 911 GT3 R. A return to the series was planned for the following year at the same season highlight, but had to be canceled due to the devastating floods in the Eifel/Ahr Valley region.
