Frikadelli Racing wants to confirm the strong upward trend in the Michelin Le Mans Cup

18.09.2022

At the last round of the Michelin Le Mans Cup almost two months ago in Monza, Italy, Frikadelli Racing was able to finish in the top 10 of the overall classification for the first time this season with the LMP3 vehicle. Next weekend, team boss Klaus Abbelen's team would like to build on this performance and achieve a similarly good result in Spa-Francorchamps.

“The weekend in Monza was really worth its weight in gold, we made a huge step forward there in terms of set-up. In addition, as a team we continue to gain experience from race to race and understand the details of our #30 Ligier JS P320 better and better. We also recently had a successful day of testing at Spa-Francorchamps, which is why I think we are very well prepared,” explains team manager Klaus Abbelen, who, as usual, will share the wheel with Felipe Laser.

A total of 37 vehicles are registered for the sixth race weekend of the Michelin Le Mans Cup, including 32 LMP3 cars and 5 GT3 cars. Last year, the Frikadelli Racing Team finished 15th overall at the series' appearance in the Belgian Ardennes, after having managed to catch up from 29th position.

“Last year I was turned over by an opponent right at the start of the race in La Source and as a result I fell back to the end of the field. Otherwise, more than 15th place overall would certainly have been possible. But the pace was already extremely good back then, which is why I'm optimistic about the weekend," Abbelen continued.

The two free practice sessions and the bronze test on Friday will be followed by qualifying (12.30-12.45) and the race (16.05-17.55) on Saturday. The event will be streamed live at: www.lemanscup.com.
