Frikadelli Racing wants to make further steps forward in Imola

10.05.2022

After the Frikadelli Racing Team had already made good progress at the start of the Michelin Le Mans Cup season in Paul Ricard, the squad of team boss Klaus Abbelen would like to further reduce the gap to the top 10 in the overall classification at the second championship race in Imola next weekend. With a total of 40 vehicles, the starting field will once again be packed to the brim.

“We saw in Paul Ricard that the grapes in the Michelin Le Mans Cup hang very high. Compared to last year, the field has once again grown significantly and the competition has become stronger. Nevertheless, we were able to keep up with the times of the top 10 vehicles at times. We want to confirm that again in Imola and, of course, also improve our placement significantly," explains Abbelen, who will share the #30 Ligier JS P320 with Felipe Fernandez Laser as usual. At the season opener in Paul Ricard, the driver duo finished 22nd overall after a spin in the early stages of the race and a collision through no fault of their own prevented a better result.

"We'll do everything we can to make sure we get the distance this time without incident. If we can do that, I'm sure that we'll be able to finish in the top 15 under our own steam," Abbelen continued.

The second round of the Michelin Le Mans Cup championship starts on Friday with two free practice sessions and an additional test for the Bronze drivers. Qualifying and the 110-minute race follow on Saturday. Viewers can watch it live at https://live.lemanscup.com/en/.
