Michelin Le Mans Cup & NLS - "Frikadelli Racing Team is dancing at two weddings"

06.07.2021

On the coming weekend the Frikadelli Racing Team will be active on two race tracks. Team boss Klaus Abbelen's team is contesting the double header of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS) and will also make its debut with the new Ligier JS P320 in Monza, around 780 kilometers away, at the Michelin Le Mans Cup.

“We look forward to the weekend full of anticipation. A simultaneous engagement on two racetracks always poses a certain challenge. Nevertheless, we are so well positioned as a team that no problems will arise here, ”says Abbelen.

On Saturday, the Frikadelli Racing Team will make their first appearance in the Michelin Le Mans Cup. Klaus Abbelen shares the helm of the # 30 Ligier JS P320 with Axcil Jefferies. At a joint LMP3 guest start in the GT Winter Series at Portimao at the beginning of the year, the driver duo had already worked together perfectly and was able to achieve two overall victories. With the Michelin Le Mans Cup, a new challenge awaits the two drivers. “The racing series is still completely new territory for us. We are therefore very excited to see what we can expect on site. In any case, the starting field is extremely attractive and promises a lot of excitement, ”reports Abbelen. A total of 33 vehicles have entered for the two-hour race in Monza. The LMP3 category, in which the Frikadelli Racing Team will start, forms the heart of the series with 26 vehicles.

At the same time, the team from Barweiler will field the # 962 Porsche Cayman GT4 of Hendrik von Danwitz and "Jules" in the NLS run on Saturday at the local Nürburgring. For the German-British driver team, the start of the season was extremely promising, with two second places in the Pro-Am category of the Porsche Cayman GT4 Trophy and the interim championship lead. In the last race, however, a defective drive shaft stopped the duo. "At the double header we will do everything we can to collect a lot of points and regain the lead in the Pro-Am classification if possible," says von Danwitz.

At the sixth NLS run next Sunday, Frikadelli Racing will then increase the vehicle fleet again. In addition to the Porsche Cayman GT4 from Hendrik von Danwitz and “Jules”, the # 30 Porsche 911 GT3 R will also be on the starting list. Team boss Klaus Abbelen, who was still active in Monza the day before, is here as a soloist behind the wheel.
